Recently Awarded Projects

Apple, Inc. A series of tenant improvement projects spanning four buildings on the Apple campus, totaling more than 450,000 s.f. Includes the build-out of open office space, high-end conference rooms and R&D lab space.

BD Biosciences. A design-build MEP tenant improvement project for a 62,000 s.f. single-story building. This project will be built for LEED certification.

Kaiser Permanente. A tenant improvement project within a Medical Office Building on an occupied hospital campus. Project includes the conversion of a chart room and adjacent spaces into a new Clinic for Kaiser's Bariatrics surgery program. The facility will be certified by the American Association of Metabolic Bariatrics Surgery (ASMBS) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS).  

Kaiser Permanente. A 15,000 s.f. tenant improvement project including interior demolition; architectural, mechanical and electrical modifications; and ADA upgrades in existing restrooms.

UCSF Medical Center. This phased renovation project is on the third floor of Moffitt Hospital. This OSHPD project includes MEP, Fire Life Safety and structural upgrades and the installation of new body interventional equipment in two procedure rooms and related support spaces.

Recently Completed Projects

Cordis Corporation (A Johnson & Johnson Company). A 60,000 s.f. laboratory and clean room renovation project in an existing building. This was the first Lean construction project for Johnson and Johnson.

Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics. Remodel of existing lab space into office space.

John Muir Health. Renovation of existing rooms to receive a new linear accelerator and CT scan equipment.

 

XL News

XL Hosts Integrated Project Delivery Workshop. XL Construction hosted a workshop in January on Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), presented by Howard W. Ashcraft Jr. and Lisa Dal Gallo, leading attorneys specializing in IPD projects. The workshop included discussion on key topics including: why IPD works; how IPD projects are structured; and what IPD offers to owners, contractors, and designers.

XL Hosts USGBC Tour of Corporate Office. On Wednesday, October 21st, XL Construction hosted the U.S. Green Building Council's "Emerging Green Builders" site tour.

Nichols Hall Awarded LEED-NC Gold! XL's most recently completed project for The Harker School is a newgreen two-story, 50,000 s.f. concrete tilt-up and glass science and technology classroombuilding including a 200-seat auditorium. Built using the design-build process, NicholsHall received LEED-NC Gold. Grean features of the project include: a living roof, solar panels, bioswales, and a direct/indirect evaporative cooling system. (Project Profile)

XL Construction's Corporate Headquarters receives AIA Design Award! XL Construction's corporate headquarters was given an Award of Excellence in the Adaptive Reuse/Renovation Design category at the 2008 AIA Santa Clara Valley Design Awards Ceremony on October 16 at the Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga. Architect: Hawley Peterson & Snyder Architects.

Silver LEED-CI is Awarded to XL Construction for Our New Sustainable Headquarters! Our new corporate headquarters is awarded Silver LEED-CI by the USGBC. The 38,000 s.f., project was a MEP design-build tenant improvement project with seismic upgrades. There are high-end finishes throughout, two kitchens, a large training room and an exercise room. Sustainable elements of the building include: brownfield redevelopment, water savings and recycled water use, a 96 percent diversion of construction waste from landfills, the use of rapidly renewable materials, enhanced commissioning of the MEP systems, and the purchase of green power.
