Movin' on Up: XL climbs to third on the list of the "Best Places to Work in the Bay Area"

XL Construction ranks third this year on the San Jose Business Journal's "Best Places to Work in the Bay Area" list, among businesses with 101-500 employees. XL Construction has appeared on the list for the last four years, moving up from fourth place in 2009, seventh place in 2008 and 16th place in 2007.

"We know we have great employees," says XL Construction Director of Human Resources Jerry Harmon, "but it's nice to know that our people feel the same way about our company. Our third place spot tells me that our employees really do enjoy coming to work everyday."

Harmon goes on to discuss the company's purpose and how it contributes to the corporate culture at XL Construction. "Our employees helped us write our company purpose ‘we build to improve lives'. The goal was to capture the feeling of pride our employees take in the work we do and how that work contributes to the quality of life for others."

Always on the look out for talented professionals, XL says they recruit people who want to be part of technical construction projects, which is the type of work the company focuses on. "We are looking for fun, energetic people who like to work hard but have a good time doing it," says Harmon. "We are just a group of people who really enjoy working together and it shows."

Harmon went on to say that it was also great to see some of XL's clients recognized as being great places to work, including Kaiser Permanente, Genentech and Amgen.
