Project Engineer
The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager and Superintendent to facilitate a well-managed project. The Project Engineer assists with the overall management and administration of projects including preconstruction services, estimating, subcontractor management, RFIs, submittal process, and change orders.

Senior Project Engineer
The Senior Project Engineer is able to perform the majority of project management functions including the management of preconstruction services, estimating, subcontractor management, budgeting, monthly forecasting and submittal processing on smaller projects or portions of a larger project. The Senior Project Engineer has a thorough understanding of the technical and business aspects of construction project management and demonstrates fundamental leadership skills.
Project Manager
The Project Manager is responsible (with the Project Superintendent) for the overall management, quality and administration of a project. This includes preconstruction services, estimating, subcontractor management, budgeting, meeting the schedule, and submittal processing.
The Project Manager provides the core leadership required to guide the project team to success. He or she is an excellent communicator and develops strong business relationships with new and existing clients. The Project Manager is able to assemble new-project proposals with little guidance; develops estimates and detailed instructions to bidders; has a solid understanding of current unit costs; and manages the project close out process to a successful completion.
Senior Project Manager
The Senior Project Manager is responsible (with the Senior Project Superintendent) for the overall success of a larger project or multiple smaller projects. This person demonstrates excellent people skills and provides the core leadership required to guide the project team to success.
The Senior Project Manager consistently develops business with new and existing clients; maintains enduring relationships with contacts industry wide; and actively participates in the improvement of XL Construction. Additionally, the Senior Project Manager takes a lead role in training Project Coordinators, Project Engineers, and Project Managers on XL procedures and construction technology. He or she leads new-business presentations and can successfully manage all aspects of a large project or multiple smaller projects, with little intervention from upper management.
MEP Coordinator
The MEP Coordinator is responsible for reviewing and coordinating the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, piping, and fire protection design and installation. The MEP Coordinator may be involved in only one project or multiple projects depending on the scope of the projects. These duties fall into four categories:
- Preconstruction design review and coordination;
- Monitoring of construction installation, field coordination, and problem solving;
- Project completion; startup, testing and acceptance; and
- Serving as a resource to XL operations personnel.
Field Engineer
The Field Engineer supports the Project Superintendent to facilitate a well-managed project. This person assists with scheduling and coordination of all subcontractors and suppliers; updating the Project Schedule and issuing weekly rolling schedules; processing and reviewing submittals and RFIs; and completing punch list activities. The Field Engineer verifies that subcontractors meet current insurance requirements prior to beginning work. He or she also conducts daily jobsite safety inspections; orders and tracks rental or XL equipment needed; orders materials for XL self-performed work; and measures and transmits labor productivity information to accounting.
Project Superintendent
The Project Superintendent is responsible (with the Project Manager) for the overall success of the project. This person is responsible for managing all on site field operations including coordinating subcontractors, project scheduling, quality control, and project safety. The Project Superintendent takes a lead in training Foreman and Field Crews on XL procedures and construction methods; schedules and manages all subcontractors and suppliers; and provides expertise in design-build and design-assist relationships.
Senior Project Superintendent
The Senior Project Superintendent is responsible (with the Senior Project Manager) for the overall success of a larger project or multiple smaller projects. This person demonstrates excellent people skills and provides the core leadership required to guide the project team and subcontractors to success. The Senior Project Superintendent manages all on site field operations including subcontractor coordination, project scheduling, quality control, and project safety.
The Senior Project Superintendent trains Project Superintendents, Foremen and field crews on XL procedures and construction methods; is able to successfully manage all aspects of a large project with little intervention from upper management; prepares Preconstruction & Construction Master Schedules and updates them regularly; leads the constructability review process during each phase of the design process; and prepares and implements job site specific safety programs and quality programs.
General Superintendent
The General Superintendent oversees Field Operations, including Superintendents and Carpenters. The General Superintendent inspects and reviews projects; assists Superintendents with project scheduling; verifies that Superintendents and Project Managers are communicating regularly; conducts constructability reviews; allocates XL’s field resources; ensures that jobsite facilities are set up completely and efficiently; evaluates the need and assigns Job Foremen as required; walks the job during construction to review field progress; and participates in weekly coordination meetings.
Cost Engineer
The Cost Engineer is an integral member of the Preconstruction team, working closely with the Manager of Preconstruction Services on all aspects of cost estimating and preconstruction cost management. The Cost Engineer estimates new projects, determines the scope, answers subcontractor questions, and performs complete conceptual estimates on small projects. This individual is able to perform a detailed and complete quantity take-off on a variety of projects; builds and maintains strong relationships with subcontractors; and attends pre-bid job walks with clients and subcontractors.
Senior Cost Engineer
The Senior Cost Engineer is able to perform the majority of the preconstruction functions on smaller projects or portions of a larger project. This individual is proficient with Timberline Estimating and has a thorough understanding of unit costs and the factors that affect construction costs. The Senior Cost Engineer demonstrates fundamental leadership skills and assists in the coordination of all deliverables required for RFP responses.
Self-Performed Work Estimator
The Self-Performed Work Estimator performs all SPW preconstruction functions on projects ranging in value from $250K to $20M+. The SPW Estimator has expert knowledge and understanding of unit costs and the factors that affect construction costs. This individual demonstrates excellent people and communication skills and is the lead person on all aspects of cost planning and budgeting during the Preconstruction Phase of an SPW project.
Estimator and Senior Estimator
The Estimator/Senior Estimator has expert knowledge and understanding of unit costs and the factors that affect construction costs. He or she takes a lead role in all aspects of cost planning and budgeting during the Preconstruction phase of a project. The Estimator/Senior Estimator provides all deliverables required for RFP responses; coordinates and leads pre-bid job walks with clients and subcontractors; gives direction to subcontractors regarding scope; develops business with new and existing clients; maintains enduring relationships with contacts industry wide; and assists the Preconstruction Manager with training Project Engineers, Cost Engineers, and Project Managers on all aspects of Preconstruction processes and systems.
Project and Estimating Coordinators
Project and Estimating Coordinators provide a broad range of critical administrative support to our project teams. Major responsibilities include preparing bid worksheets and proposal forms for new estimates; administering submittals; assembling subcontracts; creating project binders; and maintaining RFI logs. Project Coordinators are also responsible for assembling Close-out Binders at the completion of projects.
Field Safety Engineer
The Field Safety Engineer reports to the Safety Manager and is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of safety program implementation at the field level. This includes coordinating safety training; conducting project safety inspections; leading weekly site safety meetings; and conducting specific pre-task planning meetings with subcontractors. In addition, The Field Safety Engineer serves as a resource for project teams to ensure a safe and healthy construction environment.
To maintain expertise in construction Health and Safety, the Field Safety Engineer regularly attends specific industry training in hazardous material remediation, confined space work, fall protection, electrical safety, personal protective equipment and many other aspects of worker safety and environmental compliance.
Health & Safety Administrative Assistant
The Health & Safety Administrative Assistant is responsible for communicating and enforcing safety procedures for XL Construction projects. The Health & Safety Administrative Assistant updates and maintains XL safety manuals; creates XL safety signs for current and existing projects as needed; creates and maintains safety training logs; assists with technical/workshop/safety presentations; creates and maintains meeting minutes for safety department and safety management meetings; and coordinates and maintains records for CPR/First Aid classes.
Corporate Safety Manager
The Corporate Safety Manager develops, implements and manages comprehensive, company-wide health and safety programs focused on the prevention of accidents, occupational illnesses and exposure to long-term health hazards. This individual also manages and delivers corporate safety training programs and ensures that the crisis management plan is communicated and routinely reviewed and updated. The Corporate Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that the company complies with all federal, state and local safety ordinances and regulations.
Construction Project Accountant
The Construction Project Accountant provides accounting support to the Project Superintendent and Project Management team on the project site. As part of XL’s corporate Accounting team, the Project Accountant ensures that company accounting guidelines are followed at the project level. Major responsibilities include processing subcontract billings; processing vendor invoices for job-related materials; managing project payroll; preparing monthly client billings; confirming that all project subcontractors have the required insurance; and processing weekly project cost and performance reports.
Project Executive Admin Support
The Project Executive Assistant provides confidential and critical administrative support to four project executives who are focused on business development, project oversight, company-wide and industry-related initiatives and providing growth and guidance to project management professionals. Responsibilities include assisting with external and internal presentations; assembling marketing packets and proposals; maintaining calendars and contacts; tracking all business development opportunities; and representing the executives to all levels of internal and external contacts.
Senior Union Carpenter Foreman
The Senior Union Carpenter Foreman is responsible for planning for labor, equipment, and material needs and inspection walks with city inspectors. The Senior Union Carpenter Foreman will perform safety inspections and provide leadership by example in maintaining safe working conditions. The candidate will be experienced in commercial construction and tenant improvements.
Civil Project Superintendent
The Civil Project Superintendent will work with the Project Manager and is responsible for the overall success of road improvements, including road and entry realignments and handicap upgrades. The Civil Project Superintendent is a key participant in training XL employees and in promoting company policy and procedures. The candidate will provide the core leadership required to guide the project team and subcontractors to success. The candidate will have previous experience in road and entry realignments, handicap upgrades, and have prior experience as a commercial construction project superintendent. The Civil Project Superintendent will demonstrate excellent people skills.
