Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Oversight
    • Manage and mentor a team of AP specialists, ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing, subcontractor payments, and compliance.

    • Oversee weekly subcontractor and vendor payment runs and ensure alignment with contract terms.
    • Review and resolve discrepancies in subcontractor statements and manage supplier communications.

    • Ensure compliance with construction lien laws and tax regulations.
    • Review and manage monthly sales tax accruals and reporting.
    • Lead reconciliation of General Ledger accounts associated with payables and company credit cards (e.g., Concur).
  • Technology & Reporting
    • Maintain and improve AP-related systems including Viewpoint and Concur.
    • Generate, review, and present AP aging reports and other financial dashboards to senior leadership.
    • Manage and update the online payment schedule and drive process improvements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Collaborate with Project Managers, Procurement, and Legal on subcontractor compliance and payment issues.
    • Support month-end and year-end close activities in coordination with the accounting team.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of progressive AP experience, with 3+ years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Construction industry experience is required; strong knowledge of lien laws and subcontractor compliance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Viewpoint and expense platforms like Concur highly desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

In accordance with California law, XL Construction is committed to providing a reasonable and good faith salary range for this position. The base salary range for the Accounts Payable Manager role is $95,000 to $119,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions. This role may also be eligible for an annual performance bonus and company benefits.

Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this role will oversee accounting operations, support financial reporting, and help drive consistency, accuracy, and compliance across the enterprise.This is a hands-on leadership position requiring both strategic vision and the ability to dive into detailed financial processes, while collaborating with stakeholders across multiple business units and departments.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Accounting Operations & Controls 
  • Oversee core accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, WIP, payroll, and fixed assets

Project Accountant

Reports to: Company ControllerSUMMARY:As a Project Accountant at XL Construction, you will be providing support to your project teams in all aspects related to accounting, providing “one stop shop” support. Your role is extremely important to the company, as you function as the liaison, between accounting and operations giving you the opportunity to bridge gaps that may exist between the two groups.  Communication with your teams related to accounting matters must be done so clearly, concisely, and constantly. The key to this role, is taking full ownership of anything related to accounting for the jobs you manage from inception to job closure. This is an in-person position. XL does offer work from home flexibility, but the position requires a Project Accountant to be physically in the office or the jobsite 3 days a week.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review monthly project billings.
  • Schedule and lead billing kick-off meetings for new projects.
  • Schedule regular monthly meetings with your team specifically related to anything accounting.
  • Review AP invoices and update subcontractor compliances, if applicable.
  • Regularly review accounts receivable and follow-up with clients as needed to ensure timely payments.
  • Review costs posted to jobs monthly to ensure all costs are captured and accurate.
  • Provide financial support and analysis to the project teams including, but not limited to, budget vs. actual cost comparisons, researching discrepancies, and account reconciliation.
  • Upload control estimates and review budgets for accuracy.
  • Ensure new projects are set up accurately as well as maintain any new updates, if applicable. 
  • Support operations with ERP system functionality and troubleshoot issues.
  • Review monthly WIP to determine if any jobs require accounting adjustments.
  • Review and complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end close duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for the financial closeout of projects outlined in the project closeout checklist.
  • Assist in in compiling support for internal and external audits.
  • Function as a liaison between client and XL specifically related to the accounting side

A skilled production worker employed by TimberQuest Assembly North will be primarily responsible for assembling prefabricated wall sections within a factory setting, following detailed blueprints and quality standards to build complete wall structures for commercial use, while adhering to safety regulations and production timelines.

Sr. Project Managers have direct responsibility for all aspects of a single large, complex project or for multiple small/mid-size projects. They lead all phases of a project through its life cycle, including estimating, purchasing, engineering, accounting, construction, safety, and quality assurance activities. Sr. Project Managers bring a higher level of problem solving/solution creation, risk management, communication and technical “know-how” to their team(s) and projects. Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills must accompany their technical skills. These enable the Sr. Project Manager to effectively train, develop, coach, and supervise team members as well as develop strong working relationships with clients and key trade partners.

Responsibilities:

Lead new project pursuits, including development and management of proposals, schedules and cost estimates. Lead Middle and End Game BD activities.

Provide expertise and leadership in design-build and design-assist relationships and other alternative project delivery methods.

Plan and execute the bid process for new projects to ensure depth in coverage and accuracy, and lead efforts to assess and mitigate risk exposure.

Demonstrate an understanding of conceptual estimation and unit costs.

Develop conceptual and detailed estimates throughout preconstruction and construction, including development, management, and submission of project GMP estimates and internal project budgets.

Develop contracts that protect XL from unnecessary risk and enhance fee opportunities.

Lead the subcontractor buy out and selection process including the development and execution of subcontract agreements. Demonstrate a mastery of contract terms and the ability to resolve any subcontract issues without oversight.

Perform and supervise all aspects of project management on more complex or multiple projects; including, all estimating, preconstruction activities, procurement, submittals, change orders, RFIs, budgeting, financial reporting, cost forecasting/management, billing, schedule adherence, quality control, turnover/close-out, etc. Successfully overcome challenges and resolve any issues the projects and/or teams presents.

Ensure project permits, inspections, tests and procurement activities are done well and don’t lead to schedule challenges.

Develop and maintain positive relationships with project team(s), clients, owner’s representatives, design team, subcontractors, and others. Manage all OAC activities; including meetings and all other communication with these groups, to ensure positive, long-term relationships are maintained.

Ensure the effective use of available resources to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the team and the project(s); i.e. VDC, Sustainability, Lean practices, Bradley, SPW, XL Shop, etc.

Work collaboratively with Superintendent(s) and field management to plan, organize and direct site activities. Lead efforts to resolve issues or challenges in the field.

Supervise project staff and take responsibility for their training and development.

Champion XL culture & policies and procedures and demonstrate the highest level of ethics and professionalism.

Actively promote XL’s safety culture and practices. Provide insight and supervision for the development and maintenance of construction safety policies, procedures, and practices. Participate in project safety meetings and reinforce program objectives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field.

10+ years progressive experience strong project background in our core markets of Education, Science/Technology, Civic and/or Healthcare, including a project portfolio with key market clients, building types, and varied delivery methods.
