Ford Research & Innovation Center

The Ford Research and Innovation Center consisted of two separate 75,000 s.f. cold shell buildings located in Palo Alto. XL Construction partnered with Harley Ellis Deveraux Architects to complete the interior build-out and exterior improvements that support Ford’s goal to anticipate the need for connectivity, mobility, and autonomous vehicles. The project included site work to provide code compliant access, structural upgrades, complete MEPF fit-up, elevator installation, and a complete interior build-out. The interior build-out consists of research rooms, conference rooms, private offices, and open collaboration areas.
Amenities include three large break areas with tables and banquette style seating, two mother rooms, and four restrooms including showers. The highlight of the interior build-out is the  auditorium, which provides Ford a space to showcase their latest innovations. This space includes a custom Newmat ceiling system, auditorium-style seating and a track lighting/dimming system. Ford is pursuing LEED Silver Certification.
