At XL Construction, we take pride in celebrating the incredible women who help shape our projects, our teams, and our industry.

At XL Construction, we take pride in celebrating the incredible women who help shape our projects, our teams, and our industry. As part of Women in Construction (WIC) Week, we’re putting a spotlight on the talented women in the field who bring expertise, dedication, and innovation to everything they do.
This week, we’re sharing the voices of XL’s women builders—those who are leading by example, breaking barriers, and inspiring the next generation of construction professionals. From project engineers to executives, these women reflect on their career journeys, the challenges they’ve overcome, and what has influenced them along the way. Check it out!
What has been the most rewarding part of your career so far?
“If you asked me a year ago, I would’ve said the most rewarding part of my job was to be able to point to things and say, ‘I built that’. In the last year, my favorite part has been working with other women in the industry and seeing them thrive. I have two female engineers I am mentoring currently, and it has been so fun to watch their growth. Taking the time to encourage and support other women on my team has been my most rewarding experience so far.”
What’s your favorite part about working in construction?
“I love construction for the teamwork—everyone has a role in building something greater. It’s hard work, but with the right team, it’s also fun. The most rewarding part of my career has been contributing to projects like schools and hospitals that directly impact the community. XL has given me the chance to build meaningful projects while also inspiring the next generation of builders. Making a positive impact isn’t just XL’s priority—it’s why I chose this career.”
What advice would you give to young women considering a career in construction?
“You may not know everything when you are starting out, and that’s okay. Embrace the learning process and be a sponge—absorb as much knowledge as you can. Mistakes will happen, and that is part of growth and the journey. Do not hesitate to reach out to your team for help when you need it. Construction is a team effort, and together, we can figure things out.”
What has been the most rewarding part of your career so far?
“Finally completing a project and sharing the results of all the effort, time, teamwork with the end user. Walking away from a project and witnessing the impact it has on people in their day to day lives, doesn’t get any better than that!”
What’s your favorite part about working in construction?
“What I love most about working in construction is learning how things are built. I enjoy moving from project to project and getting opportunities to learn about different systems – like foundations at a ground up school or production elements in a theater. Each project brings new experiences and unique challenges. The variety keeps the work exciting and I’m grateful to be working in this field!”
What inspired you to pursue a career in construction?
“I was drawn to construction because I enjoy problem-solving, collaborating with a team, and seeing the direct impact of my work. While I studied engineering in college, I had the opportunity to intern in construction where I found it especially rewarding to be on-site, tackling real-time challenges, and witnessing a project take shape. The tangible results and dynamic nature of the industry solidified my passion for pursuing a career in construction.”
