Operating Rooms 7 and 29

UCSF Medical Center

The project includes the renovation of Operating Room (OR) 7 and OR 29 in UCSF’s Moffitt Long Hospital. OR 29 is a hybrid operating room, housing Siemens Zeego hybrid equipment. OR 7 includes an IMRIS intra-operative MRI machine, the first of its kind in California. XL performed preconstruction, participated in design, and provided constructability, coordination, budget, and schedule feedback. This was an OSHPD project.

The majority of the time, we find that as-built drawings are inaccurate and less than complete. The need to correctly plan, schedule, and complete work can only be accomplished when we know what we are getting into. For this to occur, the project team developed strong relationships with the chief engineer and his staff. Only through daily conversations and cooperation was the team able to schedule MEP shutdowns, write MOP’s (method of procedures) and request FIR’s (facility inspection requests).
