XL Construction built out 14,700 s.f. of existing shell space on the second floor of a five-story acute care patient tower. Work included building 24 new medical surgery patient beds, nurse stations, and support facilities. XL constructed the project between two occupied floors and adjacent to an active ICU. On the first floor, XL had to make acid waste and sewer connections in an active pharmacy. Work was highly scheduled to minimize distribution, with XL working weekends and nights to reduce impact to patient care. XL finished the project one month early and received a 98% pass rate on IOR’s inspections.
