XL Construction collaborated with nonprofit LifeMoves and the City of Mountain View to build a state-of-the-art interim housing site to serve Mountain View’s homeless community. In coordination with three modular housing vendors and leveraging prefabricated construction, the structures were rapidly deployed and ready for habitation in less than six months for a fraction of the cost of traditional housing. In addition to modern living quarters, the facility provides extensive support services that aim to help residents return to stable housing within 90-180 days. The project serves as a model for similar facilities planned throughout the Bay Area.

Working with you really has been extraordinary, and an exemplar of what can be accomplished with the cooperation, coordination, passion, and respect everyone has brought to the project. The heartstring-tugger for me was checking the Oxblue camera and seeing a truck delivering food to the dining area. I entered this profession with the long-term goal of making the built environment more accessible and just. It seemed unrealistic at the time; to now be part of a team so dedicated to making a meaningful and material improvement for those who most need it is really an honor. Very much looking forward to the next one.
